Hitchhiking out
Towards the north (Leipzig), northwest (Gera, Jena) and northeast Chemnitz) on the B93, A 4
Option 1
From the center, take tram line 3 towards Eckersbach to the "Talstraße" stop, walk towards Pfennigpfeiffer (either at the entrance or at the traffic lights).
Next hitchhiking station: Meerane (there is a gas station near the A4), but it is cheaper to get a ride to a gas station directly on the A4.
Heading east (Chemnitz, Dresden) on the A 72
Option 1
From the center, take tram line 3 towards Neuplanitz to the "Steinkohlewerk / Glückaufcenter" stop, cross the street (the gas station there no longer exists) and try to get to the Zwickau Ost motorway exit via Wildenfelser Straße, but the gas station in front of it is a bit out of the way and is usually only visited by locals who are driving back to Zwickau.
Heading south (Plauen, Hof) on the A 72
Option 1
From the center, take tram line 3 towards Neuplanitz to the "Westsachsenstadium" stop, from there take bus number 16 towards Hüttelsgrün/Rottmannsdorf to the "Damaschkestraße" stop or the "Äußere Zwickauer Straße - Lengenfelder Straße" intersection.
The last petrol station before the Zwickau West motorway exit is on Lengenfelder Straße.
