There is a ''[[liftershalte]]'', a special spot for hitchhiknig, at the beginning of the [[A2 (Netherlands)|A2]] near the soccer stadium ''De Geusselt'' (Viaductweg x N2/A2) (direction [[Eindhoven]]) and the [[A79 (Netherlands)|A79]] (direction [[Heerlen]]). Though with the future upgrade of the N2 to [[A2 (Netherlands)|A2]] this [[liftershalte]] might be receded! So please leave some hitchhiking sign there everytime you hitchhike so that the authorities might change their mind.
It is also possible to use this spot to hitchhike towards the motorway [[Aachen]] and then on to [[Köln]] and further. However, it is not always simple to catch somebody crossing the boarder (30-60 minutes waiting-time on average). Some people recommend to catch a lift to [[Heerlen]] and then catch another one to [[Aachen]].
