'''Laos''' is a country in South East [[Asia]] surrounded by [[China]], [[Vietnam]], [[Cambodia]], [[Thailand]] and [[Burma]]. Hitchhiking is fairly uncommon, and sometimes people will ask you for money.Yes, hitching in laos is pretty hard, especially in the north, that was my experience.
In the 80s a lot of people went to [[Russia]] for their studies, and these are often people who cars these days, so you might be able to use your Russian skills.

Sleeping: The cheapest hostel in Vientiane is on the left side if you enter the town (sleepy vientiane is not really a city) from the north (luangprabang). unfortunately i dont remember the name, but it s only 2$. in this area are also many other hostels, so get of your car instead of being dropped in the center as this saves you a 20min walk.
