* [[User:bernhard|bernhard]]: I took bus 77 to Mosgiel for a few dollars. From there I walked back to the highway which has a footpath and space to pull over all along into East Taieri. In East Taieri there is a 60km/h speed limit. However I got picked up way before just while walking along the footpath and putting my thumb out. In East Taieri there is plenty of great spots and cars are slow.

The most consistent way to get to Christchurch or North is to walk (or take a local bus $4) up Pine Hill to where the highway starts. There is space to pull over, and cars are travelling slowly after coming up the hill. It is very easy from here.
