There is a good spot to hitchhike north on Highway 99, but you will probably not find it unless you read these instructions. The highway is a busy road and the following spot can be safely reached, and is also safe to hitchhike from.
If you want to go North out of Vancouver towards Squamish and Whistler, catch the #257 Express heading to Horseshoe Bay (2 minute walk from the Granville Street Skytrain Station). The ride takes 20 25 minutes or more, and can be very full of people with luggage near ferry departure times. Your Get off at the last stop , which is "[https://goothe Horseshoe Bay Ferry terminal.gl/maps/2zonF WB Hwy 1 Overpass NS Marine Dr]" (Stop ID: 60886), on Catch the bridge crossing the highway, which you are on for a long time. You can community shuttle C12 Brunswick and ask the bus driver to let you off near the end of his route at the bridge in advance, since sometimes the drivers forget to stop good hitch hiking spot; they all know where it is. From there (also ring for a stop as soon as you notice the bus taking a left off the old highway). A new highway has been built and you have to hike up to it (approximately 10 minutes). Walk back towards to the old highway from the bridge and cross to face all the far side. Turn Right and begin walking traffic headed north up the highway. After a few minutes you will see a large hiking trail with a gate to your left. Go through the gate and walk Sea to the top. You will see the new highway above you. Cross the 4 line highway using [https://goo.gl/maps/a1U3f the underpass]. Nearby on the other side there will be [https://gooSky corridor.gl/maps/dMPcw a large pull over area] perfect for hitchhiking!
