Direction north-west there is the motorway E61/A2 towards [[Kranj]] (german: ''[[Krainburg]]'') through the Karawanken Tunnel (Slovenian: ''Predor Karavanke'') or over the pass over the border to [[Villach]] (slov.: ''Beljak'') in [[Austria]] and further on on the Tauern-motorway to [[Salzburg]] and over to [[Germany]]. It is the way that is used by most of those numerous Germans that go to the [[Croatia]]n coast for holidays.
This motorway E61/A2 starts outside from the city of Ljubljanabypass. It goes off The best way to join this motorway is from the circle-road/-motorway leaving street Celovška cesta, at the city in the direction north-west. Somewhat out of town on a crossroad the motorway starts to the rightbus station Šentvid. You can get there easily by taking bus number 1 , 25, or 8 from the city centre in direction of Vizmarje. Right before You can hitchhike on the exit to the motorway there's station, but make sure you have a bus-stop called Sentvidsign. Get out hereEven better spot is a tunnel about 500 m ahead. The bus-stop In that tunnel there is perfect an extra lane for hitchhiking since cars to stop and you can stop here easilycatch cars going from 3 different directions into the tunnel, unlike the bus station, where you only cover one direction. I used this spot three times holding a Kranj sign To get there keep walking away from the centre and turn right at the traffic light where the cars leave the street and all three times I got picked up in less than half an hourjoin the highway. The signs are visible from the station. After about 15 kilometers on you turned right you should see the tunnel. My favourite place is at the motorway there's end because cars have a big petrol lot of time to see you. If people who pick you up dont go as far as you like, you can go off at ex toll station perfect for asking people for rides to AustriaTorovo and keep hitchiking there.
