On the opposite side of the road, there is a busy motorway entrance with a great hitchhiking spot where cars can easily see you and stop safely.
==== Fuel station on April 2024: Unfortunately, after the reconstruction the road entrance doesn't make such a good hitchhiking spot anymore. Hitchhiking is still possible, but stopping has became much more difficult for drivers. The Barje rest stop is recommended instead, or try to highway ====get a pick from the Petrol gas pump on Tržaška cesta.
Near the crossing of streetsOption 3: "Pot na Rakovo jelšo" and "Barjanska cesta" there is a fuel Fuel station with a lot of cars heading towards Koper. I just asked Croatians on Pula plates if they are heading home, and I got a ride to Koper. My destination was Trieste, so I walked to the border and than took a bus.I was leaving Ljubljana around 5pm, there was a traffic jam on Pot na Rakovo jelšo, with the cars heading road to highway. Most of them had Koper plates, so it can also try asking people stuck in the traffic.

Asphalt road will bring you to place where you can see fuel station search tiny tail to it!
Another way to get to This service area is on the same gas station Ring around Ljubljana and is to very well-served by a lot of long-distance drivers. To get there take a bus lines number 1 or 1b and stop at Tbilisijska1B in direction of "Dolgi most" from the center. Keep walking straight Get off the bus on the stop "Mestni Log" and walk back in the direction of the bus is going highway. When you reach the overpass look for a very small and soon turn left at steep pathway on your right, starting next to the overpass. Descend down to the first streetfence, Cesta dveh cesarevturn right and walk a few metres untill you reach an unlocked door. After about 300 meter by feet When you'll start to see the gas station some 50 meters away re on the right other side, with some gardens in between. You can either pass trough one of the gardens and climb the fence, you should already be able to see the rest stop. Follow the pathway for another 100 m or walk few hundred meters longer to find so and there you are. There is a convenient passage through the fenceshower for 3€ and places for wildcamping around.
There * MartinJ888 August 2022: Works very well. The door is shower in fuel station price 3 eur and places for wild camping around..still unlocked! Took us about 1 hour to get a ride, asking people.
Fuel *JackMcJackJack August 2023: This gas station and has been demolished and people rarely stop here, avoid this place. The on ramp beside the Lidl on Pot Rdečega križa is a 20min walk away from Mestni Log bus station. Most people here are heading south, but we found a ride to Zagreb is on another side of highroad!Šmarje - Sap gas station after an hour.
'** July2017I followed the instructions and just lost time crossing the highway to go to the other side of the road, it's a bit dangerous . So take all your time guys! Stayed 30 to 50 minutes then picked a ride direct to zagreb in a truck .'Option 2: Highway entrance Barjanska cesta
==== Same fuel Catch bus 9 in direction of "Barje" from the center or the train station as above ====and exit on the final stop "Barje". You can hitchhike next to the parking lot or walk down the "barjanska" street and try to find a better place. That's the entrance people from Ljubljana would use to enter the highway going south, so this spot might be less suitable for long distance picks, but perfect to get you to Novo Mesto.
right|thumb|334px|Hitchhiking spot for direction: Zagreb (option 2)Highway entrance Rudnik
Sservice area "Barje", Not many cars go in this direction of Zagreb. This service area is , and the ones that do usually do not enter the motorway here - this on the Ring around Ljubljana and is very well-served by ramp mostly serves inter-urban traffic, so you might have to wait a lot of long-distance driversbit longer. To get there From the city centre take a bus number 1 or 1B line 3 in direction Mestni Log from the center. Go off one stop before last, called of "KoprskaRudnik". Continue straight (the bus takes a turn just before , and get off at the final stop "Koprska" - don't follow it, go straight on!) on the street Cesta v Mestni log, after 2 minutes . In front of you there will cross a bridge over a small river. Continue straight and cross be the motorway over entrance. Cross the bridge, street and on the left side of the service area is about 500 m away. There is on-ramp road, on your left, you will see a golf course between you and small asphalt surface where all the service areacars pass, which and there you can cross by climbing its fences (not too high) if the personal allows stand and hitchhike easily. Pay attention that you, which hasn't always been the case. If they don't, you should take an immediate left directly after crossing re hitchhiking on the highway entrance (you're still on the bridge at that pointleft turn), descending to the guardrail. You are now between the golf course's fence and not on the highwayold road (Dolenjska cesta), which is quite a narrow path at some pointscontinuing straight ahead. After a few hundred metres, you'll get Drivers going to the resting area. Hitchhiker Looking for Stu discovered that bus 1 will drop you by the side of the golf course at what appeared to be the last stop before returning to town. No problem hopping the fences Kočevje and crossing the course away from the busy motorway edgeRibnica use this entrance.
November 2017 - Easy to get to the spot via golf course (metal gate slides open), also jumping the fence no problem. There were two of us and it was impossible to get a ride, slow traffic coming through. We asked all truck drivers but they were concerned with the border crossing. This was a Monday morning 9am we waited until 2pm. There one person that suggested we should HH from Vic being a popular spot for HHers. We couldn't really find the spot on the map, so gave it a miss. I think if you are one person this spot is okay.== Transportation ==
==== On-ramp of the motorway at the edge of the Ljubljana is a very walkable and cyclable city ==== Not many cars go in this direction, and the ones that do usually do not enter the motorway here - this on-ramp mostly serves inter-urban traffic, so you might have those two are best options to wait a lot of timemove around. From I highly recommend the city centre bike share system Bicike(Slovenska cestalj), bus stop "Pošta") take bus line 3 in direction of "Rudnik" used daily by many locals. It costs only 1€ for a weekly subscription (southand 3€ for the whole year). You can use the bikes unlimitedly 24/7, and get off at the final stop1st hour of every use is free. In front of you there will be Definitely the motorway entrancecheapest and most comfortable option, which will be a turn leftdownload the BicikeLJ app for use. Cross Another option is taking the street and busses, payment is possible on the side bus with a credit card - one 90 min ride costs 1.3€. In case of credit card payment changing the on-ramp road, on your left, you busses is not possible (every change will see a small asphalt surface where all cost another 1.3€). Another option is to use the app Urbana or buying the cars pass, and there you can stand and hitchhike easilycity card.
Notice - If you are hitchhiking towards Novo mesto, pay attention that you are hitchhiking on the high-way entrance (the turn left) and not on the old road, which is continuing straight ahead. If you are hitchhiking to Zagreb, pay attention to the "Crossing borders" section in the Slovenia page.== Sleeping ==
:October 2017: itsagerston tried this spot on The best option in a Sunday morning. Traffic was quite thin but after about 20 minutes of thumbing at this place, we got a direct ride to Zagrebwalkable distance from the city centre would be park Tivoli. It should be noted that we first also tried going is huge so you can easily find a bit past this point good place to hitch to Rijeka; one driver stopped hide and told us set up your tent somewhere. People often drink there in the evening so it would might be a very long day taking that route, with drivers only going village good idea to sleep in or at least close to village all along the way and strongly suggested we take the longer route through Zagreb. From what I've seenforest, I think he was rightso nobody will bother you.
Edit: if you go to the forest behind Tivoli, be prepared for it is steep. Go there during daylight and plan in enough time to find a suitable spot. If you go until the bag side of the park (just before the forest starts) and go west you'll reach a little staircase out of stone. Climb it and you'll find a calm spot to spend the night
Another place is up the castle, close to the antena. Just follow the path going away from the castle entrance and it will take you to a small meadow and a small forrest. There is a bigger chance to be spotted here.
