If you're heading '''South''' its best to do it from the southern end of Hornby just before the 50km/hr zone ends (just past the shopping malls).
Post-eq: From the center of towncity centre, grab take the Free Shuttle Yellow (RedY) bus line until the last stop. From there grab bus 88 to Hornbyend. You'll will get dropped off next to at a Robert Norris cafemall called The Hub. Walk to Cross the main streetmall, then cross the big road and you're ready to go !The place is pretty good, but as in any big city you try to get out of, this may take some time (usually not more than 20-30 minutes). You can make use of the bus lane on the other sideleft and of the traffic lights. If someone offers you a very short lift, be careful: you may end up getting stuck on a classic European-style highway entrance with very few cars if you're too close from the city. Ashburton is the closest "big" common destination and hitch south (HWY 1)!a good place to get dropped at.
