As opções a seguir são em ordem de utilidade. Praticamente qualquer carona pode levá-lo à área de serviço Grauholz, que fica a mais ou menos 5Km passando Berna. A opção 3 diz como chegar diretamente à Grauholz.

Opção 1: Murtenstrasse

Um ótimo ponto na rampa de acesso com um tráfego razoável e com um bom lugar para os carros pararem, aproximadamente 10 minutos caminhando a partir da estação de trem do centro. Vá para Oeste, siga a Laupenstrasse e então a Murtenstrasse passando o Hospital Inselspital. Você pode pegar o ônibus número 11 para Güterbahnhof (ponto final) por uma parte do caminho e continuar andando direto por outros 400m. É tecnicamente ilegal (mas perfeitamente seguro) ficar ali, e se você for azarado a polícia pode dizer algo -- nesse caso você pode facilmente se aproximar das pessoas (com ou sem uma placa) no semáforo. Essa rampa de acesso também tem carros indo para Thun.

Opção 2: Ostring

Da estação de trem, pegue o tram número 7 para Ostring (estação final). Fique na frente da entrada da autoestrada. Não é o melhor lugar, porque os carros não podem vê-lo de longe, mas quando está chovendo você pode ficar embaixo da ponte da auto-estrada. E tem espaço suficiente para os carros pararem.

Opção 3: Grauholz

Pegue o S9 de Bern Hauptbahnhof até o ponto final (Unterzollikofen), então caminhe através dos campos sentido leste até a área de serviço "Grauholz". É uma distância fácil de caminhar e provavelmente se´ra uma caminhada agradável na primavera e no verão, por causa dos campos de girassol. Podem haver controles na S-Bahn. Tire uma foto do mapa com sua câmera, pode ser útil.

Sudoeste sentido Lausanne, Genebra via Friburgo ou Yverdon

Opções em ordem crescente de utilidade. Outra opção é pegar uma carona até a estação de serviço Grauholz no lado norte da cidade (ou veja na opção 3 acima como chegar lá de trasporte público), troque de lado (há uma ponte) e peça carona para o sul no posto de gasolina. Já que pode ser difícil conseguir uma carona indo mais longe do que o próximo posto em direção ao sul de qualquer das rampas de acesso. Em junho de 2014, o lado sul da Grauholz estava em construção e inútil, entretanto. Se você vai para qualquer lugar antes de Lausanne, fique atento pois existem duas auto-estradas diferentes entre Berna e Lausanne e veja se a rampa de acesso que você está é a que dá acesso à auto-estrada que você deseja.

Opção 1: Wankdorfplatz Da estação de trem, pegue o ônibus número 20 para a estação Wyler (compre um bilhete 'zona 1-2' por 4CHF, ou não). Caminhe 200 m no lado direito da rua (à sua direita você verá um grande estádio) e então atravesse no grande cruzamento. Há um ótimo ponto de ônibus. Melhor usar uma placa.

Opção 2: Murtenstrasse Veja opção 1 acima. daqui é possível pegar carona para Lausanne também É tecnicamente ilegal ficar aqui, mas há poucas chances de que você terá que esperar tempo suficiente para correr algum risco de ser pego.

Opção 3: Weissensteinstrasse Pegue o tram 7 ou 8 para Schlossmatte, por exemplo de Hirschengraben, próximo da estação de trem. Volte um pouco e vire à direita descendo a Huberstrasse, vire a direita novamente na Weissensteinstrasse e siga por ela até ver os sinais da estrada. Esse ãno é um ponto muito bom, porque muitas ruas encontram-se bem perto da rampa de acesso, mas se voce tiver uma placa pode conseguir uma carona para Lausanne.

Sul sentido Thun

Você pode usar a opção 1 de quem vai sentido Zurique ou as opções 1 ou 3 de quem vai sentido Lausanne, ou a opção abaixo.

Opção 1: Ostring Da estação de trem, pegue o tram número 7 para Ostring (estação final). Há um lugar onde muitas linhas do tram se encontram e é um pouco caótico para caroneiros, mas por sorte há um semáforo onde você pode ficar, então no sinal vermelho os motoristas são obrigados a olhar para você. Não tem muito espaço para os carros pararem, então fique com suas coisas à mao e pronto para pular para dentro do carro quando um lugar for oferecido.

Sleeping

There is a wagenplatz by the E25 north of Bern, outside Bethlehem. You can get there taking a bus to Bethlehem b. Kirche or by tram 8 (check times at www.cff.com). The nearest train station is Bümpliz Nord, one station away from Bern Hauptbahnhof. Walk up Eymattstrasse, past the bridge that goes over the motorway, across into a nice woodland. Take the first footpath on the right and keep to the right at the following forks. Eventually you´ll see lots of beautiful vans and trailers. People are very friendly and welcoming. There are two guest spaces. The coordinates are 46.960324,7.392554

If you go straight down from the Hirschengraben (close to the train station) following the tram tracks, you will find a small park on the right side after a few blocks. It's a good place for sleeping out.

There is an emergency sleeping place called Sleeper, where you can get a bed for 5.-, breakfast included. But they only accept people in an emergency, not people who actually could afford a hostel bed. Check-in times are from 10pm-1am and you can stay till 10am. Be there soon enough, especially in winter time. You can't make reservations.

You can try contacting Zenit if you need help or just company. His home base is in Bern, even though he's not there so much these days.

Food

Breakfast:
Monday-Friday at Aufenthaltsraum, Postgasse 35. Opening times 8.30-11.30am with free breakfast, and 2.30-5.30pm with free coffee, tea,... Postgasse is located in the lower old town, close to the (bus #12 stop) Rathaus.

Lunch:
Tuesday-Friday and Sunday at 12.30pm at La Prairie, Sulgeneckstrasse 7. It costs 5 CHF, if you can't afford that you can work for it in the kitchen. From the main trainstation go to the park "Kleine Schanze", on the right side of the park there is the street Sulgeneckstrasse and La Prairie just 50m from there.

Dinner/Supper:
Every day from 6pm-8pm at the Sleeper. It costs 5 CHF. The place is located at Neubrückstrasse 19. From the main train station, walk towards Bollwerk/Reitschule. Go behind the Reitschule building, cross two streets and you will see it. Bus 11 or 21 stop there, the stop is called Henkerbrünnli (which means Hangman's spring).

Internet

There's a free internet café at Monbijoustrasse 16. Follow the tram lines of #9 south out of the center and find the Internet Cafe Power Point on your right hand side. The place is just for the unemployed and poverty-stricken, but if you're a penniless traveller, they'll likely let you use one of their machines for half an hour.

Alternatively, there also is a free, publicly useable computer with internet at the Autonomous School at Lagerweg 12. From the train station, go downhill towards and past the well-known alternative culture center Reitschule, cross the bridge, turn left and turn right.

Public Transportation

Bern's system of buses and trams can freely be used without ticket. Checks are rare and involve inspectors fanning out from one specific stop checking every vehicle that passes. The inspectors can often be spotted as they wear black pants and red or grey shirts, and of course they have bags/bum bags/etc. If you don't have an address in Switzerland, you don't need to worry about being caught because there is no way you can be made to pay a fine, just show your ID and walk away. If you do happen to have an address in the country, lie, flirt and bargain your way out but don't show ID. If met by resistance as in "my dog ate my passport", often the inspectors can be appeased by buying a day pass.
