Zielona Góra is a town in western Poland in the voivodeship of Lubusz. It's located 180 km from Berlin, on the E65 road from Wrocław to Szczecin.

Hitching in

From the west

There are 2 ways to get into the town from that direction.

  • mostly, drivers with small cars going to Zielona Góra from direction Gubin, Słubice (check it on the map), so then go with them as far as possible to the center :) you can always ask for Castorama, Carrfour or Mc'Donalds.
  • lorry drivers (or drivers who don't stop in Zielona Góra) very often tke the ring road/bypass. So then, you have to stop when you will see Auchan supermarket on the left (on the map it's checked by Łężyca direction). Then, you can go to Auchan and take free bus to town (but goes very rarely).

From the north

First of all, you have to find out where the driver goes exactly.

  • if is taking bypass of Zielona Góra and goes to Wrocław or Germany
    • if driver goes to Wrocław you are rather unlucky ;). You have to stop then at the 1st exit to Zielona Góra and walk for about ~4km to town.
    • if driver goes to Germany then it's easier ;), there are 2 options:
    1. go with driver to 1st roundabout (before it, you will see MAKRO hipermarket on the right). Then walk for about 1.5km to town.
    2. go with driver to 2nd roundabout (after it, you will see Auchan supermarket on the right). Go to Auchan and take free bus to town or walk if you want.
  • or goes straight to the town, that's the easiest ;)

From the south

There are 2 ways to get into the town from that direction.
First of all, you have to find out where the driver goes exactly.

  • if is taking bypass of Zielona Góra and goes to Poznań, Szczecin or Gorzów Wielkopolski, you have to stop then at the 1st exit to Zielona Góra and walk for about ~2km to town. Then you will reach big car park on the left. There's a bus stop aswell. Take "0" bus and go to the center.
  • or goes straight to the town, that's the easiest ;)

Hitching out

South towards Wrocław E 65

Take the 0 bus (you can buy the ticket in the machine inside) from the the railway station to the south. Take the bus labelled Wrocław, but avoid the bus with "Botaniczny" as the final stop. Go to the end of the city, then keep on walking (following the signs "Wrocław") for 15-20 minutes. You'll find the road going straight to Wrocław or to the motorway to south-east Poland. There is a great place to hitch with a huge hard shoulder.

Public transport

There are city buses. A ticket for students cost 1 PLN (0.25€) and you can buy them in each bus, but you have to have small change.
