Take the free Auchan bus from Dworzec PKS (the main bus station) to Bielany shopping center. Get off at the last stop and you will see a petrol station from there. Just go directly towards it without crossing any streets (only these belonging to Auchan's car park). On the petrol station you can ask people for a ride or try to hitch someone going out from Wrocław by a sliproad next to the station (the same situation as going towards [[Kraków]], you're just on the other side of the highway). You can also take free Tesco bus from the crossroad of Hallera and Powstańców Sląskich to shopping center Bielany ([http://www.tesco.pl/sklepy-tesco/sklepy/wroclaw-bielany/rozkladjazdy-01.html timetable]; first are shown departures from city center). Get off at the last stop, go right along the Tesco (way back) to Czekoladowa street, then turn left (along the Tesco), then cross the street, go under the bridge (highway), turn right and go along the highway across the field, you'll get to the petrol station and you will be in the same place as in the Auchan bus option.

Hitching Out

West towards Berlin, Dresden, (Germany) A4 E 40

Take the free Auchan bus from Dworzec PKS (the main bus station) to Bielany shopping center. Get off at the last stop and you will see a petrol station from there. Just go directly towards it without crossing any streets (only these belonging to Auchan's car park). On the petrol station you can ask people for a ride or try to hitch someone going out from Wrocław by a sliproad next to the station (the same situation as going towards Kraków, you're just on the other side of the highway). You can also take free Tesco bus from the crossroad of Hallera and Powstańców Sląskich to shopping center Bielany (timetable; first are shown departures from city center).

Or take tram 17 to Klecina (20min from main station)(timetable). Get out at the final stop, walk back some meters and turn right to Skrajna street. After 150m turn left and after 50m right again into Jezdziecka street. After 200m you will reach a main street that goes directly to the motorway A4. There is a big BP petrol station, the last one before the motorway, where you can ask people.

"Hitchhikewoman Jack stood there over one hour on a monday at 6.30am! Everybody went towards Krakow. If this is happening you, ask drivers to drop you off near the highway, and walk to Orlen gas station (See above)."

On the left there's Tesco market and the petrol station for rides to the east, on the right would be Auchan market and you can see the petrol station for rides towards Germany

East towards Katowice, Kraków A4 E 40

Take the free Tesco bus from the crossroad of Hallera and Powstańców Sląskich to Bielany shopping center(timetable). Get off at the last stop, go right along the Tesco (way back) to Czekoladowa street, then turn left (along the Tesco), then turn right to cross the street and go straight along the highway across the field (don't go under the bridge) and one small entrance to the highway, you'll get to the petrol station where you can ask people for a ride or try to hitch someone going out from Wrocław by a sliproad next to the station (the same situation as going towards Germany, you're just on the other side of the highway).

Or take tram 17 to Klecina (20min from main station; timetable).

South towards Kłodzko, Prague (Czech Republic) 8 E 67

Take the free Tesco bus from main Bus station (Dworzec PKS) to shopping center Bielany. Walk away from the shopping centre to the busy road, here you'll see signs for the road 8 (E67) and Kudowa, follow the signs and you'll cross the motorway where you'll see the petrol stations mentioned above and below. Continue on and you will reach the beginning of the road 8 (E67), there's a bus stop with a big shelter and plenty of space behind and in front of it. This walk should have taken no more than 15 minutes. There's no better spots worth walking to down the road and will notice the traffic has to stop at the traffic lights around 50 meters in front of you. In line with most hitching in Poland its quite likely you'll pick up a number of short rides but once at the border its easy to get a ride to Prague.

Northeast towards Łódź, Warszawa 8 E 67

Take the bus "604" to the end of route. From there you have to only cross the tracks on the left and you will be on very long straight road with very wide shoulder of road.

Another option to go there is taking the bus "D", and go to the end of route and from there you have to cross a few building and go to the road (more or less 800m). You will be in the same place from first option but on the second side of road.

"It's very good place, a lot of times I caught a ride from there directly to Warsaw. If you go to Warsaw use the sign <<Warszawa>>." - Anonymous

It's possible to take the bus 128, getting off at the stop Psie Pole, and walk in the direction of the train station. Start hitching in front of the train station, before the bus stop (the train station is on the opposite side of the road)

North towards Poznań, Bydgoszcz 5 E 261

Take one of the trams: 1, 7, 15 direction Marino and go to the end of the route. Then go to the other side of Żmigrodzka street and start hitching at the bus stop. You will be well seen by the drivers who stop at traffic lights. You can also take the bus 129 - direction Ośrodek Rehabilitacji, get off at the stop Marino and start hitching.

Free Internet Access

One of the tourist information centers on the Rynek - one that is also a coffee shop - has two computers with free internet access for tourists. Only internet/email - no VOIP, etc. - and only 20 minutes per person. It's on the inside of the square, facing south, right next to the church and behind a statue.
