Winona is a wonderful little city Southeast of the Twin Cities (Minneapolis and St. Paul), in Minnesota state, USA. It is in the beautiful bluff country on the west side of the Mississippi River. In 2012, the population was 27,944. It is a small college town with many arts and events, including Steamboat Days in the summer, and is known as the stained glass capital of the United States. It is a great little town to spend time in.

Hitching Out

Northwest along the Mississippi towards Minneapolis / St. Paul (via #61 highway)

The #61 highway runs through all the towns on the south side of the Missississippi River, and as it is not an Interstate highway, hitching is easy and perfectly legal in these parts. It runs through Winona on the south side.
