West Virginia is a state in United States of America It is an excellent state to catch rides in. You may hear people referring to it as "almost heaven." The entire state is nothing but beautiful trees and mountains everywhere you look. There is a largely "unregulated" feel to it. If you spend some time here you may catch the vibe. Community is a highly valued concept to West Virginians which may be why their crime rate is so low despite high poverty and why everyone is willing to help out a hitchhiker.

Recreation

If you are looking for outdoor activities, the Spruce Knob-Seneca Rocks National Recreation area is a good place to experience the best the state (and arguably the entire Appalachian region) has to offer. There is abundant hiking, rock climbing, camping, skiing, swimming, and anything else your earth-loving heart desires.

Experiences

West Virginia is far and away my favorite place east of the Mississippi River, and probably the easiest state to catch rides in the entire country. Wait times average about 5 minutes. The terrain is conducive to outdoor activities of all kinds. Thewindandrain 16:00, 29 August 2012 (CEST)
