: From Kyrgyzstan/Tajikistan the only ways south would be through Afghanistan (not sure if a good idea atm) or Turkmenistan (hard to get a visa and a huge detour too).

Glad you enjoyed! I can confirm what MrTweek said: that it is now possible to cross from Burma to India. I haven't done it myself, but have heard from multiple people who have in recent years.
