You mention in your profile that five drivers gave you a total of 70 euro. You beat me by factor 7 - I've been given once a note of 10 euro by a driver, who was unable to offer me a ride. Apart from that I once found a 10 euro banknote while walking to a ramp to stretch the thumb... But the most found on the road is some twenty years ago during holidays with my parents. Hey, I also got money once by drivers instead of them picking me up - although I'd have preferred the lift. I'm not sure if the 70€ are still up-to-date, but lately I usually declined when people offered me money. The very first time a driver offered me a 20€ bill I declined too, but he insisted, so I could take a cab if needed (I was hitchhiking to a village on [[Sylt]] and it was getting late) and in the end I got a cab for exactly 20€.

Actually, I've heard often that people received some money or at least were offered some money.
