Suggestions for your log page

In no particular order:

  • use real html where possible, it will allow you to port the data to your own site if you ever want to do so,
  • use "," separators in distances and make them right-aligned,
  • use dates in ISO 8601 format, YYYY-MM-DD, and
  • make your table sortable, and example can be found at Frank Verhart's "Type of hitching spot table"

I did have extensive logs on this site, but a fall-out with some of the burocrats, and the utter trash that the Media-Wiki markup is made me decide to move to my own site on Neocities, the basic sites there are free, I pay USD 5 per month for more space, and, more importantly, the ability to add more file types. Email me, address on that page, to get access to an extended "homepage", and my logs of rides since 1980. The program I used to generate my wiki-logs here is still available, but it requires your data to be in a particular format that is, let's shall I say, a bit convoluted, but I have a fully supported program that generates the logs that I use on it, complete with all links between them.

And for what it's worth, in 1982 I hitched to Nordkapp via Sweden, going back via Finland (Kautokeine turned out to be a black hole, took a bus to Rovaniemi), and as the Baltics were at the time still part of the Soviet-Union, I took the ferry from Turku to Stockholm.

Finally, I rarely visit this site nowadays, if you want to contact me do so by email, I don't have any presence on "social" media, other than LinkedIn.
