Experience

Julian has hitchhiked in Australia, Malaysia, Thailand, Israel, Palestinian Territory, Egypt, United Kingdom, Belgium, Netherlands, Germany, Denmark, Sweden and Norway. He embarked on his first hitchhiking experience in 2009 and has since been hitchhiking in some countries he has been visiting as an alternative mode of travel. Depending mainly on his mood, Julian usually hitchhikes from a suitable stopping place by the side of the road, holding out a hand with his thumb up. Signs are rarely used and occasionally depending where he is dropped off he will speak to drivers at amenities such as petrol stations. His preferred method is the thumbs up (or depending on the country another hand signal) approach.
