Transylvania is the best region you could hitchhike in all of Romania. The people here are much more friendly, due to the fact that they are closer to [[Western Europe]] than the rest of the country. The road network in Transylvania is highly developed, although there are no highways. A bunch of European roads, along with smaller, national or regional roads interconnect the cities of Transylvania, making hitchhiking easy.
The people are friendly, they often stop for hitchhikers. People generally speak English, especially the youth. In some areas, people speak other foreign languages too, due to the history of the regions (German – [[Sibiu]] area, Hungarian – [[Oradea]] areaand the Eastern part of Transylvania, where in some regions the locals speak better Hungarian than Romanian).
