:::It is another discussion about intrinsic versus extrinsic motivation - quite interesting. it is funny to see that people are against it ("ohhh, we are all so intrinsic motivated") and at the same time arguments about status and the right to give awards and things come up... Looking at this, I would say everybody his sweets. People should be able give awards (including reason and signature, so there is transparency) and people can put up the sign that they do not like it. --Alex 08:59, 10 November 2008 (UTC)

::::Maybe it's better to mostly stick to editting people's user pages only after their consent?  For me awards are fine for talk pages.  ..and for MTV :) guaka 10:14, 10 November 2008 (UTC)

::::: It is a wiki, change it back when you do not like it. It wouldn't make any special rules for user pages, changes are good in 99% of the cases... --Alex 11:34, 10 November 2008 (UTC)

Mmmm, to be quite serious, awards are probably not a good idea. Knowing quite a few of the people here personally, I don't think this motivates them. Besides, maybe also first propose these kind of things that might be pretty controversial within our community. Robino 13:46, 9 November 2008 (UTC)

I see. I really had only good intentions especially knowing that that's how it works in Wikipedia (according to my observation). However, if you think this is completely useless here on HitchWIki, I agree to delete it. Other opinions? --Sigurdas 19:32, 9 November 2008 (UTC)

I'm not sure if that will make sense here. But yes, I'd really like you to discuss such things before. It also seems quit weird, that a newly registered user gives awards to all the long-term users and administrators. --MrTweek 22:50, 9 November 2008 (UTC)
