Tarifa is a small town in the province of Cádiz, Andalusia, on the southernmost coast of Spain. The town is located on the Costa de la Luz ("coast of light") and across the Straits of Gibraltar facing Morocco.

Hitchhiking out

East towards Gibraltar, Malaga

Walk to the Northeastern exit (towards LIDL) and stand with a sign at the roundabout. Cars will slow down due to humps at the zebra stripes and they can easily stop. Perfect spot - for Gibraltar and likely further to Málaga!

To Tangier

There are frequent passenger ferries to Tangier from Tarifa (up to 15 daily). Considering that it's a mere 14 kilometer trip that takes 35 minutes the price (37 €) is a bit too high. Ferries here are "fast" ferries so use rather port in Algeciras where the ticket costs 20 € (Feb 2012). And also 99% of trucks use port Algeciras, but hitch them there can be very hard. Most of them only take trailors to the port. trash:Tarifa
