::I can approve the same experiences from last year July 2007. Many tourists then are on the way to Turkey, with filled up cars. But nevertheless it's possible to do the route in one day. Hitchhiking on the shoulder or directly on the highway isn't that hard, too. Police only asked me to go off the highway and drove away, so no problems with that. Some info about serbia and belgrade...

Hitchhiked in spring 2007 through Serbia. I got into Belgrade fairly easy with one ride almost all the way from Zagreb. But going from Belgrade to Nis was a bit harder. I only got short distance rides. It is expensive for drivers to pay the toll on that road from the north of Serbia to the south and there is not a lot of traffic (appr. 10 euros). Hitchhiking seemed to be less common as in Slovenia and Croatia. I got stuck in the middle of nowhere just off the highway and I had to ask drivers to take me just a short distance. From there I just hitched from the shoulder. --Robino 00:37, 1 April 2008 (CEST)
