Hm. Even in Google maps it's written like "Samarqand". Siberian explorer 18:02, 13 November 2010 (CET):
- That's because Uzbek spelling uses "q", and Google Maps often puts the names as they appear in the local language. However, when a native English speaker wants to search for an article on this city, he's most likely to write "Samarkand". Just like we put the Moscow article at "Moscow" instead of "Moskva".
