Some other stuff I'd like to change:
* I found out that for distances above 200 km in Germany my average speed (door to door) almost always is 60 km/h to 70 km/h. This helps planning a lot. Can someone verify?
: Seems realistic to me. My rule of thumb was: 50 km/h is bad day, 100 km/h is very good. On almost all of my trips I am between that. Then again, Prino claims an average of about 114 km/h. --MrTweek 14:18, 1 February 2012 (CET)
* I agree that the service station restaurants are expensive but I do not agree that the food quality is low. It is average sometimes when it's just pre-fabricated food. But low food quality for me means bad hygiene or really bad taste and that's not the case.
: agreed. Also, often there's a McDonalds or BurgerKing and they obviously have the same prices and quality as everywhere. --MrTweek 14:18, 1 February 2012 (CET)
* When googling German rest areas (not service stations) I found some services promoting errrr... opportunities to meet people with certain interests there. I'm sure it's nothing the average hitchhiker is looking for. As I rarely get dropped off at rest areas I have no clue about this. Has anybody had troubles with this? Should we add it to the rest area infos?
: I heard of this but never encountered anything like that (except for some prostitutes). I think there are a few certain rest areas that are used for other purposes. Anyway, I think these people probably hide in the bushes, so this shouldn't pose an issue for anyone. We can still mention it, of course. --MrTweek 14:18, 1 February 2012 (CET)
* I plan to add some information about communication (like free wifi etc.) and carpooling (might help to get on the highway cheaper than with public transportation). Any further ideas?
: An important info, that we sometimes already have is whether there is a bridge or tunnel to cross to the other side. Also, it might sometimes help to know if/how one can enter/leave the service area on foot (villages, bus stops nearby, etc).
