Tibet pay its allegiance to the central government in 1247 during the Yuan Dynasty and never been an independent regime anymore.Until 1913 the 13th Dalai Lama announced the independence of Tibet ,However, no independent state has recognised the Dalai Lama's state as an independent country.in my humpble option you may be prejudiced by first impressions that everything opposite to PRC`s done is right .cuz it is a autocratic regime . thx! Come on, guys, are you serious? Can we just leave out historic or political debates here and stick to what's hitchhiking-related? We always kind of had a consent here to stick to the definitions from Wikipedia or the UN instead of trying to find our own political view. According to Wikipedia, Tibet is not a special administrative region, but one of 5 autonomous regions of China. Either we list them all, or none of them. No, I don't think we can or should. China forbids us to hitchhike in Tibet. If Tibet is just a normal part of China, why would there be such a restriction? As to Hong Kong and Macao, they are (in some ways) probably comparable to Guernsey, Jersey, or some of the former Dutch Antilles, and have special political status. They should most definitely be listed separately.
