Your best chances to hitch towards North is to find a highway motorway ramp in Skönsberg (zoom in on the map to the right).
===South===
For going south on the E4 you can stand next to the road behind the central station. Cars can stop on the [[hard shoulder]].
A far better place is in Njurunda ("Njurundabommen") but it is located 17 km outside the city center. In Njurunda there is a gasstation petrol station just after a speedcamera speed-camera which ensures that the cars drive slowly and there is plenty of space for them to stop.
