Suffolk

Suffolk is a county in the east of England, bordered by Cambridgeshire to the west, Norfolk to the north, and Essex to the south. Mostly rural and full of small towns and villages, its main large towns are Ipswich (the county town), Bury St Edmunds and Lowestoft. Other towns include Woodbridge, Stowmarket, Sudbury and Felixstowe. The A12, the main road from London to Great Yarmouth (in Norfolk), runs through the east of the county, passing by Ipswich, Woodbridge, Saxmundham and Lowestoft. The A14 runs from Felixstowe to the junction of the M1 and M6, passing by Ipswich, Stowmarket, Bury St Edmunds and Newmarket. The A140 runs from the A14 near Needham Market to the A149 south of Cromer, Norfolk. Between the A14 and Diss, Norfolk, it passes through many small villages. After Diss, the only significant place it passes is Norwich (the county town of Norfolk) before Cromer.

Transport

Suffolk is served by the Great Eastern Main Line which runs from London to Norwich. The stops in Suffolk on this line are Ipswich, Needham Market and Stowmarket. Branch lines serve the towns of Sudbury (from Marks Tey in Essex) and Felixstowe (from Ipswich). Other stops on the Felixstowe Branch Line are (from Ipswich): Westerfield, Derby Road, Trimley. The East Suffolk Line runs from Ipswich to Lowestoft, stopping at Westerfield, Woodbridge, Melton, Wickham Market, Saxmundham, Darsham, Halesworth, Brampton (by request), Beccles and Oulton Broad South. From Lowestoft, one can get the train to Norwich.

There are also many bus services running throughout Suffolk and in its towns.
