The Sarpi border crossing connects Georgia and Turkey on the Black Sea coast. It is less than 20 km from Batumi in Georgia. Sarp (Turkey) and Sarpi (Georgia) are small villages consisting of a single street. Walking across this border is allowed.
Hitching out
In either direction there are plenty of trucks (nearly all traffic between the Caucasus and Turkey passes through here) and a good amount of private cars. Ignore the offers of taxi drivers, walk a few hundred metres from the border and stick your thumb out.
