Puerto Saavedra is a small fishing town in Region IX of Chile. It is a popular destination for those who seek to enjoy cheap fresh fish and for those who wish to explore its surroundings, most notable Lago Budi, the world's southernmost salt lake.
Hitching Out
East towards Temuco
The town is so small that hitching out is not a problem. Not many cars pass by but people here are very generous. One of the first five cars to pass you will likely stop.
Hitching In
The most common way is coming from the city of Temuco located some 80 kilometers to the east.

Other Useful Info
A plentiful fish dish with a large heaping of fries will cost around 6 USD. If you have the dough it's well worth what you pay. Fried merluza comes highly recommended.
