This Hi, this e-mail is a newsletter for to inform you about the participants and will be send out on the 23rd of July. Another newsletter is planned for the 1st of Augustlatest developments around Project 888.
Are you ready for the European Hitchhiking Day/ Week? On the 8th of August we now have around 90 persons that have registered so far. We would kindly like to ask you to update your event-settings to give us an idea if you're actually coming or not, and if you already have a place to stay: http://www.couchsurfing.com/meetings.html?mid== Participants ==11024
== Local meetings and routes ==
There are currently [[Project_888/Meetings|meetings]] planned in Luxembourg, Hamburg, Lyon and Utrecht, one or two days prior to the event in Paris. Join one of these meetings or create one yourself.
== Arrangements Accommodation / camping ==We have at the moment two options for accommodation. The first idea is to do some old-school camping in the wild. We have localised a spot where we all could camp for free. It is just outside of Paris and not an official camp-site (and we don't have 'permission'). There are no toilets but fresh water resources are close by. Please share your thoughts here: http://www.couchsurfing.com/group_read.html?gid=9367&post=1293515
Things we need:
* you to bring a tent
* big army-tents
* potentially some cooking material
== Local meetings Accommodation / being hosted ==The second option is to all stay with hosts in Paris, but it is summer period and so far we have no clue how many of you still need a host, and who is able to host us in Paris. We have a pool on the eventpage on CS but we would kindly ask you to update your settings. If you are looking for a host in Paris yourself, please ask if this person has crash-space for more as well...
''So far we have been in contact with several hosts in Paris and currently have a hosting capacity for about 30 people.'' We probably will have a list of hosts and their adresses ready on the 8th, so we can distribute the guests.
== Open Space day Accomodation / third option? ==A third option would be if we can find a court-yard somewhere in Paris or another spot closer within the city for about 20 tents. This would be the perfect way by which we could actually combine groups of people that are hosted in the city and others staying in a tent but closer to the city. If you know anything, please share your thoughts in the 888-group.
== Arriving in Paris ==We will meet-------------------------------up right under the Eiffel Tower on the 8th. We plan to do some games to share our experiences and stories, and food. If there are no fixed plans made yet (which is likely) we are very likely to have a meeting at around 10 to decide where we will be going and how, depending maybe also on how many hosts we have and how many people are looking for a place.
copy== Open Space Day: Living a Nomadic Life. ==For Saturday we plan to have a so-paste things from belowcalled Open Space Day, with games, workshops and discussion groups for sharing skills and knowledge exchange on hitchhiking, sustainable travel, nomadic resources and hospitality exchange. Location is yet to be determined. This Open Space Day follows the law of two feet: if you find yourself in a situation where you are not contributing or learning, move where you can, or create a new situation/ group.
== Contact details ==On the 8th of August and as long as a week before, about sixty (and counting!) hitchhikers will team up to hitchhike to Paris if you need to promote the idea of hitchhiking. Participants are hitchhiking from as far as Armenia, Russia and Finland. Other places of departure include Utrecht, Brussels, Berlin, Barcelona, Geneva, Rome, Athens, Istanbul, Budapest, Prague. This project shows that the hitchhiking community is still very much alive. Each year thousands of people hitchhike all over the world; and in many countries it is still a common way of getting around. This is the first hitchhiking event of this kind. The goal is to suggest that it could be a great human experience to pick up a hitchhiker, share their car and exchange stories. Participate in the first European Hitchhiking Day!Come and hitchhike to Paris on the 8th of August and also take part in the open space day on Saturday the 9th with the theme "How to life a nomad-life", on hitchhiking, sustainable travel and hospitality exchange (SHE/HER) with games, workshops, sharing of skills and knowledge exchange. Practically we are still looking for 'some' help. * Organise a local meeting in your country/ city to welcome hitchhikers on their way to Paris, and promote this event in your own locality!* Help spreading the press-release in your country and be a contact-person for press to answer inquiries.* If you live in Paris, we would like to know if some of you would be interested in hosting. We could set up a pool of interested hosts, so everyone can contact you by themselves, or if you are more flexible set up something collective call/ txt the following numbers: +(all participants are members of either CS, HC or Bewelcome33)* We would also like to know if there is any spot in Paris or close to Paris where we could go in the evening to camp 612871824 (wildFabrice) or sleep in a park. Do you know?* We would like to know if there is any social center, gym, park where we could possibly stay over with the whole group for free +31(or a little fee0). Do you know?* We are also making a documentary out of the whole event. If you are a filmmaker, please join! If you live in Paris, we are also looking for a place where we can hook-up laptops and upload film-material on the 8th of August 626071803 (not to far from the Eiffel TowerRobino).  For the 9th we plan an open-space day with workshops and discussion groups. The proposed theme for any contact prior to this day is 'The Modern Nomad'event, and we are looking forward to combine this please share your thoughts with discussions and skillthe 888 e-sharing on how to be a nomad, hospitality exchange and sustainable travelmail group. If you have skills to share and/or u want to learn from others, do come! Also, we are still looking for a location, so if you have suggestions, please!  Merci for your input & see you hopefully in Paris !
