Potsdam is the capital of the Brandenburg. It is located 20 kilometers southwest of Berlin. Potsdam is one of Germany's largest castle, pleasureground and park areas. There are mainly three parks in the city: 'Potsdam-Sanssouci', 'Potsdam-Neuer Garten' as well as 'Park Babelsberg'. 'Schloss Sanssouci', 'Neues Palais' as well as many-many surrounding buildings (such as the 'Chinesisches Haus', the 'Belvedere auf dem Klausberg' or the 'Roman Baths') are to find in 'Park Sanssouci'. 'Schloss Cecilienhof', the 'Grünes Haus' or the 'Marmorpalais' are located in 'Neuer Garten' along 'Heiliger See' in the norhtern portion of the city. 'Schloss Babelsberg' together with 'Schloss Glienicke' are close to 'Glienicker Brücke' on Bundesstraße 1 in the direction of Berlin-Wannsee. All three park areas are to reach within 20 minutes walking distance from the Potsdam DB main train station.

-=== West (2, Hannover, Dortmund) and South 9, Leipzig, München, Frankfurt am Main) ===
Potsdam From the railway station go along the street Brauhausberg for 400 m, at the end of the parking lane is home the spot, which leads to Michendorf, where the first official hitchhiking spot in Germanyservice stations Michendorf Nord and Michendorf Süd are situated very good. It is located on B2 If you arrive with the suburban train, you can take the buses 608, 643 or N43 until stop 'Leipziger Straße' (Michendorf, Abzweig Wildenbruch'Michendorfer Allee') next to , you follow the Potsdam DB old main train station street for 50 meters and then go right into Feldstraße, after 600 m you see on your left side a green wall, which has a door in it, that is the way to Michendorf Nord. (Some buses end in Michendorf- which leads West, then you have to leave the bus at 'Rastanlage Michendorf' on Saarmunder Straße'Berliner Ring' (E 30/ A 10.).
-=== East (12, Frankfurt an der Oder, Poland) or Southeast (13, Cottbus, Dresden, Prague) ===
To reach 'Rastanlage The path to Michendorf' on 'Berliner Ring' (E 30/ A 10) via A 110, take Suburban Train S7 to 'Nikolassee' Station (four stops), leave Süd is at the DB station in B2 behind the direction of 'Wannsee'motorway, walk along 'Borussen Straße' and 'Spanische Alee' (only two minutes) to the petrol station as well as rest-area 'Spanische Allee'. Build a cardboard sign with buses 643 or N43 until 'Ring', 'Michendorf' or even your final destination on it. If you plan to go eastward into Poland or westward to 'Ruhrgebiet', go to Bergheide'Michendorf' first.
Michendorf by train
An alternative to reach Michendorf is to take DB regional train RE7 or OE33 from Berlin/Berlin-Wannsee to get off at Michendorf Station. The walk from the station takes around 20 minutes. There are three supermarkets on the way to the Autobahn.

stub816Take the suburban train (S-Bahn) S8/S4/S85 to the stop 'Pankow-Heinersdorf' close to 'Prenzlauer Promenade' on B109. From the traffic light close to the Autobahn on-ramp (still on B109) it normally only takes minutes until you can find a driver. A 114 leads close after Berlin on 'Berliner Ring' (A 10) which leads after ten minutes to the Autobahn Berlin-Hamburg/Berlin-Rostock. The way here can take one hour from Potsdam as Pankow is in the north of Berlin.
