Travellers looking for a longer ride usually make a sign with the name of a city they're going to or through. Some drivers prefer to take travellers and tourists. Because of this it's a good idea to place your backpack in front of you and make a sign which makes you look like a ''professional hitchhiker''.

A hitchwiki user has recently undergone a grueling 22 hour hitch from Olomouc, CZ, to Krakow. He waited for around seven, freezing cold hours at an A4 junction, with heavy traffic, but no luck. Once within striking distance of the city on a main throughfare, around commuter times, and still with heavy traffic flow, he was passed by every single one. Be wary of hitchhiking in Poland. Start early, take provisions, and have a back up plan.
