Petawawa is a town in Ontario, Canada

Hitchhiking out

West towards [Mattawa] / North Bay

The 17 (TCH) runs through town in a couple places but you'll wanna be at the 55 exit (Paquette Road) if your heading west. It's a few km walk into town from there where there are plenty of amenities and food options. The spot heading west is a great one just after a set of lights with a massive shoulder.

Places to avoid

Avoid any and all military property! This is a Canadian Military town and stay away from any of their grounds or fenced off property if you wanna be left alone. It may be tempting to camp in some of their woods but there are much better places to stealth camp without having to worry.

Accommodation and Sleep

I found an amazing place to camp in town, behind the furniture warehouse right on the northern tip downtown. Walk back there and keep to the right, you'll find a steep hill with a little sand path going down it. You are well hidden if you stay in the woods here but there is a beach right on the river only 10m doth the path if you would prefer. Watch out for the glass if you do go for the beach though, pretty messy.

I was stuck in that spot in the rain for two days, and it was enough in town that I could get out during rain breaks and get some food or wifi to pass the time. Recommend it big time!
