Pereira is a city in Colombia. It is the largest city located within the Eje Cafetero, or Coffee Axis.
Hitching out
North towards Manizales
From the bus terminal take a bus to a gas station in Santa Rosa (Bomba Santa Rosa), and from there walk up the road a little more than a kilometer to where the roads converge and continue, first, to a pay toll, and then on to Manizales.
South towards Armenia, Bogota
From the bus terminal walk along calle 18 (exit to Armenia) until you see a traffic light. If you don't find a ride there (as was Ron's case) keep walking a few kilometers more until you reach a road construction site (as of March 2012). The first drive I asked agreed to take me to Armenia.
