Ontario is the second biggest province of Canada and the largest in term of population. The Canadian capital city is located in its territory just at the border with Quebec and the provincial capital but also country's metropole is Toronto.

Ontario is the longest province to cross during a journey East-West as it is the only province in the country that is actually more wide than 'high'. Crossing Ontario by car takes no less than 48h non-stop.

Note: Wawa, ON is generally considered by Canadian hitchers to be the absolute worst spot in Canada to wait for a ride. If hitching through northern Ontario, it might be a good idea to pass up a ride to Wawa for one going to Thunder Bay if heading west, or Sault-Ste Marie if heading east. It is not unheard of to be stuck for days in Wawa.
