Nouadhibou is a town in Mauritania. Hitching from Nouadhibou towards the east is easy on the daily cargo train to Zouerate calling at Inal, Bou Lanouar, Tmeimichat, and Choum where most passengers, aside from those working at the mines in Zouerate will get off. Passage on the train in the passenger wagons must be paid for, but hopping into the cargo wagons is allowed and free of charge.

There are three trains leaving Nouadhibou each day, although only one stops at Choum. This is scheduled to leave at 2pm, although it's invariably late. Over the road is the ships graveyard which is interesting to pass away the time. It's dangerous to cross the tracks and the border with Western Sahara on the other side is full of land mines.
