The Nădlac-Nagylak border crossing connects Hungary (near Szeged) with Romania (near Arad). On the Hungarian side is the village of Nagylak, while on the Romanian side is a town called Nădlac.

Hitchhiking out

East into Romania

The border is about 50 km from Arad, and the majority of cars are going there. There is also heavy truck traffic. For hitchhiking there is a parking lot for trucks just after the border. 400 m further on there is a gas station.

West into Hungary

The majority of cars is going to Szeged, about 50 km away on national road 43.

If going north it is best to go via Szeged, and from there taking national road 47 north-east (towards Békéscsaba), 5/M5 (E75) north (towards Budapest) or south (towards Serbia) and 55 west (towards Baja, Pécs).

For hitchhiking, there is a gas station about 600 m after the border, or simply cross the border on foot and start hitching on the other side.
