| + | It's pretty easy to hitchhike from mechelen towards Leuven, Brussels or Antwerp. Ghent is a bit more difficult, since you have to get to either Antwerp or Ghent first and know where to get out to fetch a next ride. It's definitely possible though, the easiest is past Antwerp. North to Antwerpen, Netherlands
The road to the Mechelen-Noord entry of the highway offers a good spot next to traffic lights. guaka was dropped there on his way North from Brussels and hitched a continuing ride in 5 minutes.
