Marrakech is a city in Morocco.

North Towards Casablanca, Rabat

DamnthatTelevision got to the train station only to find that it was a 2 hour wait until the next train, and so decided to walk north along the road following the signs for Casablanca in order to hitchhike. The city goes on for a long ways, but there is a wide spot in the road next to a gas station where it was possible to thumb a ride to a wide spot in the road at the edge of the city. Here after about 5 minutes a bus pulled over and the driver urged me to get in, which I did. When this happens in Morocco you are charged the fee, however it was the real Moroccan price, of about 5 euros, and they accepted 4.5 since that was all the cash I had.

West Towards Essaouira

From the trainstation: If you are in front of the entrance to the right there is Av. Hassan II. You can find a Bus station there (Next to the Supratours office). Take Bus L22 for 60MDH (or so) until there is a big supermarket and a Afriqua gasstation to the right. It takes about 10 minutes and you're a bit outside the town then.

There is a number of roundabouts and parking space, so the cars are passing slow. You can supply yourself in the close by, big supermarket. And the direction is clear, many cars will go to Essaouira.

I had the best hitchhike ever there with a waiting time of 2 sec :)
