The best option is to stand on the green strip where cars turn to one's left.either Either you can stand straight in front of the traffic light, – the driver has enough time to wave you in – or just stand 100m 100 meters behind the traffic light, works too. Try to hitch either in the morning between 6 and 8 or in the afternoon between 3 and 6.you'll have the most traffic, because lots of people are on their way to or back from work and can often give you a ride straight to Hamburg. Try to avoid to hitch between 08:00 and 10:00, traffic is low and most people head to destinations close around Kiel.
