Kemi is a city in Finnish Lapland.

Hitching around

The only road going through Kemi is motorway and it is not always easy to get an onward lift from some places. If you are coming from the north or west and want to go towards Oulu, ask your driver if he might leave you at the petrol station Neste Lapintulli at the southern end of the city.

Staying in Kemi

Close to the city centre is the forest/recreation area "Kiikeli". There you can find a lean-to Laavu (hiking shelter) with fire place, observation tower right at the beach and free WiFi. Also there are plenty spots for wild camping and enough wood for some cooking.
