Kazakhstan

Kazakhstan (also spelled Kazakstan) is a country in Central Asia.

According to this German article, hitchhiking in Kazakhstan is a normal way of traveling and public transport, even to University in Almaty the guy in the article hitchhikes quite often. He says that drivers are payed a bit for the ride they offer and that he never heard of any problems with hitchhiking in the country.
