Het Gooi is a region in in the Netherlands between Amsterdam and Utrecht. Towns around here are for example Hilversum, Huizen, Blaricum, Laren, Naarden and Bussum. It is a great region for hiking and cycling. You can easily hitch to this region, do a hike and hitch back. It only takes 20 minutes by car.

Tour 1

Hitch from the Liftplaats in Amsterdam to Huizen over the A1 in direction of Hilversum / Amersfoort. Get off at exit Blaricum/ Huizen and walk towards Huizen (follow the signs) over the road 'Crailoseweg'. After 10 minutes you can go to your right and walk in a forest and a heath area. In this area there are wild cows and sheep. Walk back through the same road. There is an excellent spot on your right, at the entry on the highway, where it says 'carpoolstrook'.

Hitching Out

Public transport

There are many different line-buses in this region. They cover all the towns. You can pay in the bus but buying your ticket in advance is 40% cheaper. You can also try using the bus stops as a spot to ask for rides.

Sleep

Staying over in this region is rather expensive but there are many people in this region offering a free place to stay through the hospitality exchange networks.
