From the city center of Gera at 'HeinrichtraßeHeinrichstraße' take tram number 3 (indicating: 'Bieblach Ost') until the stop 'Berufsakademie'. Walk north over 'Tinzer Straße' and 'Siemensstraße' until you have reached Autobahn A4/E40. You will find an Aral petrol station as well as a Mc. Donald's restaurant. Here or at the entrance of the Autobahn, you have the opportunity to hitchhike eastward (towards Chemnitz and Dresden) or westward (towards 'Hermsdorfer Kreuz', Jena, Erfurt and Eisenach). Gera is a very well signed Autobahn interchange. You will surely find your way very quick.
