The population consists of two main ethnic group: Fijians of Melanesian origin and Indo-Fijians. ==Hitch-hiking==Hitch-hiking is easy in Fiji. However, lack of transport might be a complication. The traffic is strong on Viti Levu’s coast. The intensity falls down in direction to the centre of island. Its not common to own a car for people in rural area. In small and remote areas, the car might be completely absent. What concerns safety, the Fiji is generally safe country, Fijians are very hospitable and helpful. Mobile service is probably absent in highlands and remote islands. ==Transport==Viti Levu is well attended by public transport. Cities as Suva, Nadi, Lautoka are interconnected by buses that go multiple times per day. The interior of Viti Levu is attended by mini-buses. It goes usually in early mornings. Islands are interconnected by ferries and airplanes. However, the connection might exist only once a week or less frequently.
