Ferns is a town in Wexford, Ireland. The N11, a major road, cuts right through it, providing an excellent jumping off point for South towards Waterford or North towards Wicklow and Dublin. It's a good point to take a rest from the road without feeling as if you're missing a potential ride with the high traffic. The N11 merges with the M11 motorway to the northeast, and the volume of traffic means you'll likely be able to find a lift easily.

Hitchhiking out

South towards Enniscorthy, Wexford, or Waterford

If you're heading South, towards Enniscorthy, Wexford, or Waterford, a good spot is to remain on the N11 west of St. Aidan's Church, and head past the cemetery, where you'll find signage for Wexford and Enniscorthy. The shoulder is wide and the amount of traffic means you won't wait for long.
