Denmark is a country in Northern Europe. It is a member state of the European Union as well as the Schengen Agreement.
According to wikitravel hitchhiking is legal in Denmark except on highways. Most drivers speak English, not German. There was a hitchhiking project done in 2006 called The Search for Danish Mentality. As a follow-up the same organization – MS – is running another project this year called The Search for the Commons.

Hamburg to Copenhagen
From Hamburg to Copenhagen you can hitch to the ferry at Puttgarden, and get a ride straight to Copenhagen. If you ask the people after they paid the ticket you can cross for free (and save 7 euros). Tickets are per vehicle not person.

From Denmark going South
From Jutland Hitch you self a ride to Padborg, in south Jutland just before the German border. Here you'll find the countrys largest truckstop, if not ask around. Most trucks leaving from Denmark stops here. With a little luck you'll find someone going to most destinations in Europe. Ask the drivers while they are getting ready, filling-up on gas or walking from the diner to their car.
