Catalunya is a region in the east of Spain. Many Catalans see Catalunya as their country. Most people speak both Catalan and Spanish. Young Catalans speak also English but you will find it somewhat harder to find your road if you do not speak Catalan not Spanish.
Hitchhiking in Catalunya can be quite a challenge at times, but experiences are very mixed, ranging from hitchers with very few problems getting rides, towards hitchers having larger difficulties and very high waiting times. Overall the hitchability is just a bit lower than France.
