Castellón de la Plana is a city in Spain. It is located in the Community of Valencia, between the city of Valencia and Tarragona. It is a turistic destination mostly in the summer, and it is close to Benicassim, an interesting alternative village. Motorway  AP-7  goes trough it, also called autopista del mediterráneo, that goes from France to Vera (Almería), a motorway full of tourists usually travelling to or from Europe.

Hitchhiking out

North or South

There is a fine service area called La Ribera, just in the motorway  AP-7 , with a petrol station and a restaurant. To get there you have to take a train to Oropesa del mar village from the train station, probably you can get in without a ticket. Then, you get out of the village direction north AP-7, and hitch hike right there where you will see plenty of space and the entrance of the motorway. There, you can get either a ride to the motorway where you can stop at the service area, or a ride 10 km further trough the national road direction north, where you will find a gas station. This second option will be easier. From the gas station, you have walk through the road back to the city and take the first ground road on the right through the woods, that road guides you directly to service station la Ribera, connected in both sides of the motorway by a bridge. Here hitch hiker RastasPercebe got a ride directly to Barcelona.
