I would not bother with the bus. Walk up Preston Road, passing preston park till you get to a rock garden just before the Shell Petrol station (if you have gone that far that you have waked to far) Just before the rock garden opposite the park there is a side turning, Hitch just by the traffic lights before this turning. Write "London". I have done this many times - its the magic spot to hitch in Brighton... Never waited more then an hour...
