Brasilia is located in the Distrito Federal and the capital of Brazil

Towards Goiania

You first need to make your way to Samambaia which is one satellite cities on the cities Eastern Side, specifically the BR 060 Freeway.

If you take the Metro from Brasilia get the line to Samambaia Terminus. Once there a road crosses in front of you running adjacent to the station. You'll need to walk in a south direction to the Freeway about 5-10 Minutes, You can try getting a ride by walking along the freeway (BR060) however if not, you will find a Texaco Gas Station on the edge of Samambaia on the freeway further along with helpful attendants and people stopping.

I spent 3 hours trying to get a ride and contemplating sleeping the night but managed to convince a guy to take me after he thought I was suspiciously too good at Portuguese to be foreign. I saw one of the most beautiful sunsets here too!

Towards Belo Horizonte, Rio de Janeiro & Sao Paulo

It is advisable to get a bus to Luziania in the state of Goias. From there ask the driver to let you off on the road. Along this stretch of Freeway (BR 040) there are many truck stops and places to get meals/showers etc. The ones on the southern edge of Luziania are your best bet. From here it is possible to make your way back to Sao Paulo.
